#184 | Why can't fundraising professionals just learn how to get along?

At a time when support is critically important and the needs are great, the last thing an organization wants is two feuding departments that can’t work collaboratively toward a common goal; yet that’s exactly what we see in many fundraising shops. It was interesting to hear that in researching this topic, John Feudo found that many fundraising professionals were somewhat hesitant to go on record about their challenges while at the same time very enthusiastic and interested in the outcomes of his research.

Today, Theresa Lee and I had an opportunity to sit down with John, the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement at UMass Lowell to talk about his most recent book which addresses the integration of alumni relations and development. John believes that now more than ever we need to get along and proactively work together to achieve shared goals. Now in his 32nd year in the field, John has gained insight and experience at five institutions, at the United Way, and also as a consultant. John is a frequent presenter at conferences, has chaired numerous conferences, and has consulted all over the world.
