#186 | How can fundraisers ensure that donors aren’t zoning out at their virtual events?

For obvious reasons, this year’s Raise conference was moved to a virtual format; however, that did not stop OneCause from organizing an extraordinary lineup of speakers to ensure attendees a meaningful and encouraging learning experience. I was very grateful for the opportunity to catch up with several of the Raise presenters this week and hear what they’re up to.

I was delighted to catch a few minutes with Shanna who oversees Cerner’s corporate philanthropy and global volunteer efforts. Our conversation today with really begs the question of how to ensure that our donors are not zoning out at our virtual events. Shanna shared several examples of how the rituals we’re accustomed to at an in-person event don’t necessarily translate to a virtual space and may undermine the success of what we’re trying to accomplish. I have to imagine that many of the pointers Shanna offered will resonate with those who have assumed responsibility for virtual events in the last six months.

As always, we are grateful to the support we receive from OneCause. As mentioned during the break, if you’d like to talk to Theresa Lee or another member of the Responsive team about our training programs, please reach out to one of us to start a conversation.
